How can you regain your vitality back?

Buzzz its 6:00 am in the morning and your clock goes off, you reach over and you hit the snooze button in hopes of a couple more minutes.  Buzzz there it goes again, this time you throw off your covers and swing your legs over the edge of your bed and your feet touch the flour, you think to yourself another day.

You take your quick shower in hopes it will wake you up. You get dressed, pour a cup of coffee and watch 10 minutes of the morning news, while it’s still dark outside.  You drop the kids off at school and daycare as you race on your way to work hoping the traffic won’t be slow… this time.  You get to your office just in time to find work piled high on your desk, before you have a chance to take off your coat.

This is a normal day across the world…tick, tick, tick…Buzzz you can hear the alarm clocks go off -one – by – one – from the east coast to the west coast and around the world. We’re all working hard for our dreams, to pay the bills, to send the kids to college and to help our aging parents, your thankful -or- not thankful, it’s a day.

I wonder… have we lost sight of what’s really important in life? Is all this stress and busyness really fulfilling? Are we lonely and yet, surrounded by people every day?  Did we create this life style because we, “want more stuff”?

I was inspired by Dr. Wayne Dyers book, “Inspiration your ultimate calling” “Slow Down”. We’ve  become so busy that we neglect our health, our spirit (which feeds our creativity), our core values, our families to the point we don’t know them- or -ourselves.

What would happen IF we had to be alone with “ourselves”? No TV, movies, books, radio, newspapers, magazines, Internet, computers and cell phones? Many of us would say…“I would go crazy”, I can’t do it, nor do I want to. My next question is…what are we so afraid of…boredom, and or, getting to know who we are or both?

Have you noticed the people that are…content, healthy, happy and prosperous are the ones that live a life of…“calm”, they’re in tuned with their surroundings and inner spirit. When was the last time we took a walk in nature without an I-pod in our ears? When was the last time, a car in front of you was going very slow, and you said, “Thank you, now I can slow down too”?

Quote:

“I have lived long enough to learn how much there is I can really do without…He is nearest to God who need the fewest thing.”

Debby, excellent points in your post. Frankly we Westerners have created ourselves a merry go round that is almost impossible to get off of. We wedge ourselves into a lifestyle of absolute madness and then wonder why we are getting sick and stressed and frustrated.

I love being alone among nature – without my iPod, but there are so many forces keeping those opportunities to a minimum lately. A pity.

Hi,Debby! i enjoyed reading your articles posts on your blog…i can certainly relate on some of the things you mentioned! It’s part of our human nature to feel connected to someone or something…Unfortunately we live in a world full of technology, which it’s good in a way,but it distracts us from the very foundation of our lives in regard to enjoy the simplicity of life as a whole,by sometimes smelling the flowers, appreciate nature and also appreciate our relationships to our families, friends and colleagues. I enjoy learning more from you! Thanks so much for sharing your articles posts.
